Surviving Mars: Pioneer, the VR adaptation of the popular colony-building strategy game, is landing on Meta Quest and Steam Early Access on May 8, 2025. This immersive VR title reimagines the flatscreen classic Surviving Mars with a fresh first-person perspective, giving players a more intimate look at life on the Red Planet.
Unlike the original game’s top-down style, Surviving Mars: Pioneer places you directly into the dusty boots of a Martian settler. From managing vital resources like oxygen, food, and water, to constructing futuristic bases and riding rovers across the Martian terrain, this new version offers a deeply engaging, hands-on colony management experience.
Players will need to balance survival with expansion as they mine resources, explore new territories, and ensure the sustainability of their Mars civilization. It’s a strategic challenge wrapped in immersive gameplay.
The game is being developed by Bolverk Games and published by Impact Inked in partnership with Paradox Interactive.
Impact Inked is the latest publishing initiative from Impact Reality, focused solely on original VR IPs. This differs from their Flat2VR Studios brand, which specializes in bringing existing flatscreen games to VR.
Surviving Mars: Pioneer will launch in Early Access on May 8, 2025, for both Meta Quest and SteamVR headsets. A PlayStation VR2 version is also in the works and will be released after the full game launches.
With its deep management mechanics and immersive VR design, Surviving Mars: Pioneer is shaping up to be a must-play title for fans of strategy and simulation games. Whether you’re building colonies, exploring alien landscapes, or keeping your citizens alive in harsh conditions, the red planet is ready for pioneers.
Don’t miss your chance to be among the first to colonize Mars in VR—wishlist now and prepare for launch on May 8th.
