PICO is stepping up its game in the VR space with the launch of its new Motion Tracker Waist Version, offering standalone full-body tracking without the need for external base stations.
This new tracker, which connects wirelessly via Bluetooth, is designed to sit comfortably around the waist and work seamlessly with PICO 4 and PICO 4 Enterprise headsets. With built-in IMU sensors, it delivers real-time motion capture and positioning, adding a new layer of immersion for users—especially in applications like VRChat and fitness games.
While PICO already released a tracker last year that could be strapped to the wrists or ankles, the Waist Version brings a crucial upgrade: it’s purpose-built for hip tracking, completing the trio of core body points (hands, feet, and hips) required for accurate full-body presence in virtual environments.
This waist tracker is part of PICO’s growing effort to build a more immersive and hardware-rich VR ecosystem. Its standalone nature makes it ideal for fitness, dance, social VR, and professional applications, cutting out the setup hassle that comes with external sensors.
PICO hasn’t announced an international release yet, but the device is expected to roll out in China this April. Global availability could follow depending on the market response.
For users and developers looking for affordable, portable full-body tracking without needing a PC or base stations, PICO’s Motion Tracker Waist Version could be a game-changer.
