Zero Caliber 2 is officially set to launch its PC VR remaster on October 30, 2025, bringing a major overhaul to the popular VR FPS from developer XREAL Games. While the sequel has been available on Quest since last year, this upcoming Steam release takes things to a whole new level with reworked gameplay, upgraded visuals, and fresh features.
What’s New in the PC VR Remaster
Unlike a simple port, the Steam edition of Zero Caliber 2 has been rebuilt with a much larger scope. Expect:
- Reworked combat scenarios with more challenging AI.
- Higher enemy counts and new behaviors for smarter encounters.
- Ragdoll physics for more realistic battles.
- Visual upgrades including dynamic shadows, enhanced lighting, explosions, weapon effects, environments, and vehicle animations.
Because of these extensive changes, crossplay with Quest won’t be possible. XREAL explained that the two versions are “simply not aligned in a way that crossplay would work.” However, the studio did note it hopes to bring some of the gameplay improvements over to Quest in the future, if technically feasible.
Campaign, Co-op, and PvP
Zero Caliber 2 Remastered will continue offering a full campaign experience, playable solo or in four-player co-op, along with dedicated PvP modes. With its improved AI and expanded mission design, the PC VR version is shaping up to be a deeper, more demanding experience compared to the Quest release.
What’s Next for Zero Caliber
Alongside this remaster, the original Zero Caliber is heading to PlayStation VR2 in October, having already entered certification. Meanwhile, Zero Caliber: Reloaded will also be added to the Meta Horizon+ subscription next month. As for Zero Caliber 2 on PS VR2, XREAL is still targeting a holiday 2025 release.
