The Thrill of the Fight 2 Gets Major Update: Casual Matches, New Venue & More

Halfbrick Studios has rolled out a significant new update for The Thrill of the Fight 2, bringing exciting new features to the VR boxing experience. Marking the first major content update since its early access launch in November, the 0.2.1 update adds casual matchmaking, a brand-new venue, and gameplay balancing improvements.

One of the standout features in this update is the addition of casual multiplayer matches. Unlike ranked matches that affect your player rating, these casual bouts let you enjoy competitive boxing without the pressure of rankings. The multiplayer lobby has also been improved, now allowing players to find opponents based on specific preferences or attributes — making matchmaking more customizable and accessible.

In terms of environments, players can now step into a brand-new hotel venue, the first new boxing location introduced since the game’s initial release. This fresh setting offers a new atmosphere for matches and adds variety to the VR boxing experience.

Gameplay mechanics have also seen adjustments. Referees are now more active in the ring — they’ll penalize players who repeatedly turn away or lower their heads, helping enforce more realistic boxing rules. Additionally, a series of tweaks to the damage system aim to create a more balanced and authentic fighting experience overall.

While this update brings meaningful changes, there’s still no word on when The Thrill of the Fight 2 will fully launch or receive single-player content. Despite that, the game continues to evolve steadily, building on its strong foundation with thoughtful updates.

The Thrill of the Fight 2 is currently available in early access on Quest, and with updates like this, it’s shaping up to be a serious contender in the VR boxing space.
