Into Black Launching Soon on SteamVR & PlayStation VR2

The co-op action-adventure title Into Black is making its way to SteamVR and PlayStation VR2 later this month. Originally debuting on Quest last year, the game comes from The Binary Mill and draws comparisons to the popular flatscreen action-exploration hit Deep Rock Galactic, offering up to four-player cooperative gameplay.

Following the earlier announcement of a PS VR2 port with a “full visual overhaul,” the studio has now confirmed that the game will launch on both PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR this month.

Visual & Performance Upgrades

Back in March, The Binary Mill detailed the visual improvements players can expect on PS VR2 compared to the Quest version. Enhancements include real-time shadows, remastered cave environments with significantly higher geometric detail, and adjustable render scaling on PC.

Performance-wise, the PS VR2 version is targeting a native 90Hz refresh rate on standard PS5 consoles, with 120Hz support for PS5 Pro owners. Players can also expect eye-tracked foveated rendering for improved performance, along with immersive haptic feedback in both the headset and controllers.

Continued Support & Updates

Since its Quest launch last October, Into Black has received several post-release updates. These included quality-of-life additions like checkpoint saves, a New Game+ mode, extra cosmetics, and, in January, a localization update that introduced multiple new language options.

Release Date

Into Black is currently available on the Meta Quest platform. The PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR editions are set to release on August 28, bringing the enhanced experience to a wider VR audience.
