Birdseed VR brings the peaceful joys of birdwatching into virtual reality, offering players a cozy photography simulator now available in Early Access on Quest.
Developed by Vancouver-based studio Buffalo Buffalo (Fresh Tracks), this charming title blends cartoon-style visuals with real-world bird behavior. From vibrant plumage and distinct color patterns to authentic bird calls and natural flight movements, Birdseed VR aims to create a relaxing yet realistic birdwatching experience.
Armed with a trusty Polaroid camera, players are tasked with spotting birds, zooming in at just the right moment, and capturing the perfect snapshot before their subject takes flight. Each photo is graded through a points-based system, with progress carefully recorded in an in-game notebook.
As this is an Early Access release, Birdseed VR is still evolving. Currently, it supports single-player gameplay, but more features are already planned. Future updates will introduce a Field Guide for unlocking new bird species, a Scout’s Store where players can buy decorative camera options, and even a multiplayer mode for collaborative photo-snapping adventures. Players will also be able to share their best shots and scores with friends once these social features roll out.
Birdseed VR is available now on Quest in Early Access, with a full release planned in the future. A Steam version is also in development and expected to arrive soon.
