A brand-new adventure is coming to virtual reality fans—Star Trek: Infection VR has just been announced at Gamescom. Unlike previous entries in the Star Trek gaming universe, this title takes a bold leap into the narrative survival genre, offering an experience filled with psychological tension, stealth mechanics, and hands-on crafting.
A Survival Twist In The Star Trek Universe
Developed by Played With Fire (the studio behind Stargaze and Mixture) and published by Broken Mirror Games, a co-development label under Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, Silent Hill remakes), the game takes Star Trek into darker and more unpredictable territory.
Players will step into the boots of a Vulcan Starfleet officer on a covert mission aboard the USS Lumen, where events quickly spiral into a nightmarish mix of psychological horror and physical threats.

Gameplay Features
Star Trek: Infection VR aims to immerse players in survival gameplay while staying true to the Star Trek spirit. Key features include:
- Immersive Roleplay: Become a Vulcan Starfleet officer navigating a mission gone wrong.
- Stealth & Combat: Choose between sneaking through dangerous encounters or fighting head-on with your phaser.
- Iconic Gear: Use your tricorder to scan, analyze, and interact with your surroundings.
- Hands-On Crafting: Physically build tools, items, and gadgets at workstations to survive the mission.
This combination of survival mechanics, Starfleet tech, and player choice sets the game apart from anything seen in the franchise so far.

A Rare Star Trek VR Experience
This marks only the second home-playable Star Trek VR game ever released. The first, Star Trek: Bridge Crew (2017), gave fans the chance to sit in the captain’s chair but has since disappeared from the Quest Store, leaving many VR players without access to it.
That makes Star Trek: Infection VR not only a fresh survival experience but also a rare chance for Quest players to dive into the Star Trek universe in VR.
Release Details
The game is set to launch later this year, with Quest 3 and Quest 3S players getting it first. A PC VR version on Steam will follow shortly after.
With survival gameplay, psychological tension, and the beloved Star Trek setting, Star Trek: Infection VR is shaping up to be one of the most unique VR titles of the year.
