Boxing Underdog officially steps into the ring today in early access on Meta Quest, bringing gritty and immersive combat to VR players who crave intensity. Originally announced in 2023 under the name VRSO: Bare Knuckle Fighting, the game has since undergone a full rebrand and faced multiple delays before finally launching in July 2025.
Not to be confused with the similarly titled UNDERDOGS, which is focused on multiplayer mech brawling, Boxing Underdog carves its own identity in the VR space with a strong focus on bare-knuckle and traditional boxing experiences.
What To Expect in Early Access
At launch, the game features five gameplay modes, including:
- Classic boxing matches with traditional gloves.
- A bare-knuckle mode offering raw, no-holds-barred action.
- Single-player fights against four different AI opponents, available in three difficulty levels.
- A training mode to sharpen your skills.
- Automatic fight replays, so you can review your performances in detail.
Players will also get to battle it out across four unique venues, all designed with a gritty underground fight club aesthetic.
Features That Pack a Punch
The developers haven’t held back when it comes to realism and features:
- Full gore effects and ragdoll physics.
- A physics-based stun system and stance detection to make every punch matter.
- Roomscale movement and stationary analog stick support for flexibility in play style.
- Voice chat for heated online matches.
- Leaderboards tracking weekly, monthly, and all-time records.
- A built-in jukebox lets players customize their training or fighting soundtrack.
A companion Steam app for content creators is also expected to launch on July 31, adding more tools for recording and sharing VR boxing content.
Platforms and Availability
Currently, Boxing Underdog is available in early access on Meta Quest for $19.99. While versions for PS VR2 and PC VR are in development, no official release date has been confirmed yet.
