Zoom has officially launched as a 2D Android app on the Meta Horizon Store, making it freely accessible on Quest headsets. This marks a major step forward in productivity and collaboration in virtual reality, allowing users to join Zoom meetings directly from their VR devices.
Previously, Zoom meetings could be accessed in VR through Meta Horizon Workrooms, primarily for Zoom Pro users. In that setup, the virtual Horizon Workroom itself would join the call as a single video participant—similar to a webcam in a real-world conference room. This meant individual VR users weren’t joining the meeting directly, but rather through a shared virtual space.
With this new update, that’s changed.
The standard Zoom Android app is now available as a standalone 2D app on the Meta Horizon Store. It allows users to join any Zoom meeting—whether free or paid—right from their Quest headset. Being a 2D app, it functions within your virtual home environment or even with passthrough enabled, blending seamlessly into your real-world surroundings.
Zoom on Quest also taps into a powerful Horizon OS feature introduced in version 76. Any Android app that requests access to the selfie camera can now use a virtual webcam feed of your Meta Avatar. This means that when you enable your webcam in Zoom, your animated avatar appears on screen. If you’re using the Quest Pro, your avatar will even reflect your facial expressions and eye movements, thanks to built-in face and eye tracking.
Zoom Workplace is now available for free on Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro—offering a convenient new way to stay connected and productive, right from your VR headset.
